Customized medications

Just what the doctor ordered.

Every patient’s medical circumstance is unique and sometimes one-size-fits-all commercial prescriptions are not suitable. That’s where compound medications come in. Compound medications are medications that are formulated specifically for an individual client (or their pet). If you require a compound medication, our pharmacists collaborate with your physician (or veterinarian) to customize the prescription to your unique medical needs and personal preferences.

*Flavors: Apple, Banana Creme, Butterscotch, Chocolate, Grape, Lemon, Marshmallow, Orange, Peanut Butter, Peppermint, Pina Colada, Raspberry, Strawberry, Tangerine, Tutti-Frutti, Vanilla

We adjust strength and dosage to fill specific prescriptions, leading to more successful and in some cases, more cost-effective treatment.

We create treatments in various forms including: liquids, capsules, tablets, suppositories and topical gels or creams. This can make treatment more effective or simply easier to swallow.

We modify medications by removing ingredients that clients are allergic to, thereby reducing side effects.

Explore the range of conditions we can treat with compounding.

Additionally, in cases where a particular drug is commercially unavailable or has been discontinued, we have the capability to re-create it for you through our compounding services.

We specialize in working with plastic surgery skin care specialists and dermatologists to meet each patient’s individual needs.

  1. We can treat wrinkles and photo-aged skin with topical estrogens.
  2. Through the use of Bio-Cosmetics, your skin can look like it did 5-10 or even 15 years ago.
  3. Scars can be treated with specifically compounded creams which allow the pharmacist to combine the optimal dosage for a customized cream. The pharmacist works with the patient and his or her physician to create a topical compound that can be used locally to minimize the appearance of scars.

Skin problems can be uncomfortable, unsightly and embarrassing for the patient.

Through personalized consultation and compounding, Medoz Pharmacy is able to treat a wide range of dermatological conditions much more successfully than regular retail pharmacies. Just like humans, animals have unique medication issues. You may find that you have difficulty getting your pet to swallow its medication or animals might require a specific dose for medication that is not commercially available.

Giving your pets medication doesn’t have to be difficult.

At Medoz Pharmacy, we work with you and your veterinarians to prepare customized medications for your pets, large animals and birds. We can prepare chewable treats, transdermal gels that you can rub into your pet’s ear, eye drops, ear drops, ointments and flavored medications.

    • Ideal Size and Strength: Commercial animal medications may be available in only one size. The tablet may be too large for a dog and an excessive number of tablets may need to be given to a horse. We have the ability to compound dosage forms that are just the right size and strength for any animal.
  • Specialized Dosage Forms: We can compound numerous dosage forms that are just right for your best friend. From oral liquids to rectal suppositories, from eye/eardrops to transdermals, we are able to compound dosage forms to contain the exact concentrations needed for infections, dry eyes or allergies.
  • Unavailable Medicines: Some medicines are not produced in the form prescribed by veterinarians simply because of a low demand. We can compound these preparations for you in the form that your pet needs.

Some of our most common preparations include prescriptions for:

  • Anxiety
  • Motion sickness
  • Diabetes
  • Pain
  • Parasitic infections
  • Dry eyes
  • Thyroid disorders

Natural HRT Goals for Women

The most common method of hormone replacement therapy or HRT is the treatment of menopausal symptoms in women. As certain hormonal levels decrease, post-menopausal women experience a wide range of symptoms including night sweats, hair loss, insomnia, bone loss, hot flashes, decreased libido, mood swings and vaginal dryness.

Common natural HRT goals for women include:

  • Restoring natural hormonal balance
  • Returning the natural protective benefits that the original hormones were providing
  • Diminishing the effects of post-menopausal symptoms that occur due to decreased hormone production.

Because every womans’ body and her hormonal makeup is unique, often mass-produced hormone treatments don’t work to a woman’s best advantage. Compounding can be the ultimate answer to a wide nuber of issues, including:

  • Hormonal Issues
  • Menopause
  • Sleep issues
  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Weight gain
  • Irregular menstrual cycle
  • Moodiness
  • Decreased libido
  • Sexual Enhancement

Medoz Pharmacy can work with you and your physician to create an individualized hormonal replacement therapy plan to help relieve your symptoms. The natural hormones we provide are specifically created to have the identical chemical structure as those produced by your own body, so as to decrease adverse side effects.

These specialty prescriptions can be created in the perfect dosage, strength and delivery method for your unique situation.

Wound care is a sensitive area that compounding can be useful for.

As per a prescription order, a formulation can be compounded to contain the proper combination of active ingredients, in the most appropriate base, to treat a specific type of wound.

For example, the choice between cream, ointment or gel can be clinically significant. Each time a wound needs to be cleaned, there is the potential for disruption of new tissue growth. Gels which are more water soluble than creams or ointments may be preferable for wound use because a gel can be rinsed from the wound by irrigation. Ointments may contain polyethylene glycol (PEG) which can be absorbed from open wounds and damaged skin. If the wound is quite large and too much PEG is absorbed, it can lead to renal toxicity.

Another useful dosage form is the “polyox bandage” which can be puffed onto a wound and will adhere even if exudate is present. A polyox bandage can be compounded to contain the active ingredient(s) of your choice.

We offer all types of wound care solutions including:

  • New tissue growth stimulation
  • Pain reduction
  • Discourage bacterial overgrowth
  • Odor Control
  • Therapy for Wounds, Ulcerations, Donor Sites, and Burns
  • Skin Irritation
  • Severe Diabetic infected sores and wounds
